The Luksic Scholarship for Sustainability at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies has been established to support the development of skilled leaders in sustainability, aiming to equip professionals with the resources to be able to create change within their communities and professional environments.

Since 1995, the School of Professional Studies has administered and developed programs to fulfill a diverse array of students’ needs and is committed to providing diverse, innovative programs to enable students to succeed in their educational and professional development.

A total of 2 Scholarships are available each year for candidates who are accepted onto the Master of Science in Sustainability Management program (for Fall terms with classes starting in September) offered at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies. This degree offers an interdisciplinary approach to sustainability, drawing on expertise from leading academics, researchers, and practitioners, and equips students with advanced policy and management tools to tackle sustainability challenges faced by businesses, NGOs, and governments.

The program caters to professionals looking to advance or pivot into sustainability careers and the curriculum integrates the practical aspects of sustainability with a strong foundation in management, economics, quantitative analysis, and policy.

Program Duration: Three semesters.

Program Location: New York, United States.

Program Application Dates: Individuals who wish to apply to the Master of Science in Sustainability Management Program and plan to request financial aid, must apply directly to Columbia University via their application process. Application for Fall 2024 enrollment is closed. Applications for Fall 2025 enrollment will open later this year.

Scholarship Coverage: The Luksic Scholarship is a comprehensive funding package that provides full tuition coverage and a stipend based on a cost of living analysis to cover living expenses for the entire program duration. It also includes a one-off payment once Scholars register for their classes at the University of Columbia to retroactively cover the costs involved in arriving in New York (i.e. flight costs).

Scholarship Eligibility: Students who have lived or worked in Chile and who are committed to working on sustainability efforts in this region are eligible for the Scholarship.
