Tsinghua University Latin American Center

In December 2018 Tsinghua University launched its first center in Latin America, based in Santiago, Chile. The Latin America Center will enable the university to improve its regional awareness and influence, promote the implementation of global strategy, and enhance its global reputation and branding. The LAC will perform as a regional admission center and increase the quality and quantity of applications from Latin America, thus enhancing the diversification of international student body on Tsinghua campus.

With the influence of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, there is a rising enthusiasm for Tsinghua students to understand the world, especially Latin America. Establishing the center in Santiago is the need for Tsinghua students to expand their international horizon and increase their global competence. Furthermore, Tsinghua’s presence in Latin America will allow for multidisciplinary research and studies to be conducted between regional universities and Tsinghua in Beijing.
