Latin American Voices in Politics (LVP) is a series of conferences organized by students for students to promote dialogues about the future of Latin American and the Caribbean public policy with world-leading specialists. LVP is supported by Stanford, including the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. The conference’s will take place on May 14th and this edition will explore Environmental Policy.
Confirmed speakers include: Jacqueline Alvarez, Director of the UN Environment Programme of Latin America and the Caribbean; Sônia Guajajara, leader of the Association of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil; Prof. Matias Franchini, specialist in global environmental governance and climate change issues; among many others. On our previous edition, we had more than 1700 students from 34 different countries registered. We discussed the issue of Public Health policy, bringing specialists like Dr. Carissa Etienne, Director of the Pan American Health Organization, and Alexandre Padilha, Former Minister of Health of Brazil
All of our panels will be translated to both Spanish and Portuguese, with the purpose of democratizing the dialogues we are promoting. Additionally, we will have workshop opportunities for groups of students to get to know a panelist in more detail and ask them questions about their possible career paths.
