How we spend time at home, on the street,\u00a0and\u00a0in the city\u00a0over the next decade\u00a0is being re-framed. How we re-calibrate urban centers where people can live,\u00a0work\u00a0and\u00a0transact is\u00a0open to debate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">This\u00a0Urban Age Debate brings together prominent city-shapers and commentators who are committed to making cities more liveable, more\u00a0democratic,\u00a0and\u00a0more complex.\u00a0Using images of recent projects\u00a0in Mexico City, Mumbai, New York, Moscow, and London, architects and urbanists explore the deep connections between\u00a0the design\u00a0of\u00a0public space and social inclusion as cities strive to become more humane,\u00a0domestic,\u00a0and\u00a0home to diverse communities.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SPEAKERS:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\"><strong>Elizabeth Diller<\/strong>\u00a0(<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dsrny\" target=\"_blank\">@DSRNY<\/a>) is a partner of\u00a0the architectural practice Diller\u00a0Scofidio\u00a0+ Renfro (DS+R) based in New York City.\u00a0 Diller has been committed to an exploration of how democracy and the public realm intersect, realizing\u00a0spatially-inventive\u00a0and socially-progressive projects in cities across the world including\u00a0the High-Line in New York City\u00a0and\u00a0Zaryadye\u00a0Park in Moscow, as well as educational and cultural buildings that prioritize\u00a0connection with the city\u00a0and the creation of social space.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\"><strong>Rozana\u00a0Montiel<\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rozanamontiel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">@rozanamontiel<\/a>)\u00a0leads the\u00a0Mexico\u00a0City-based architecture studio\u00a0Rozana\u00a0Montiel\u00a0|\u00a0Estudio\u00a0de\u00a0Arquitectura\u00a0which has investigated how elegant, modest architecture can contribute to the creation of\u00a0socially-inclusive\u00a0urban spaces. She has transformed abandoned open spaces in a public housing project into active social facilities\u00a0through\u00a0the Common Unity project in Mexico City\u00a0and\u00a0completed\u00a0a\u00a0rural housing project for earthquake victims in\u00a0Ocuilan,\u00a0Mexico.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\"><strong>Amanda\u00a0Levete<\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/al_atweets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">@AL_Atweets<\/a>)\u00a0is one of the\u00a0United Kingdom\u2019s most respected architects who has consistently pushed the boundaries of architectural,\u00a0technical\u00a0and social innovation. A regular commentator on\u00a0design and urban society, she\u00a0is the founder and principal of\u00a0Amanda\u00a0Levete\u00a0Architects\u00a0(AL_A) which re-engaged the\u00a0Victoria &amp; Albert Museum\u00a0in London with the city through its award-winning\u00a0Exhibition Road\u00a0project, re-animated Lisbon\u2019s waterfront with the\u00a0Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology,\u00a0and is exploring the potential of regenerating inner cities across the United Kingdom.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Suketu\u00a0Mehta\u00a0<\/strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/suketumehta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">@suketumehta<\/a>) is\u00a0a writer, critic, and urbanist who focuses on the\u00a0social and ethnic\u00a0complexity of the contemporary city, and the deep connections between urban form and cultural vibrancy.
