Serena Yeung is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Data Science and, by courtesy, of Computer Science and of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. Her research interests are in the areas of computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning, focusing on applications to healthcare. She also serves as Associate Director of Data Science for the Stanford Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine & Imaging (AIMI), and is affiliated with the Stanford Clinical Excellence Research Center (CERC). Prior to joining the Stanford faculty in 2019, Serena was a Technology for Equitable and Accessible Medicine (TEAM) Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University, where she was hosted by Susan Murphy and John Halamka. Serena received her Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2018, where she was advised by Fei-Fei Li and Arnold Milstein. During her Ph.D., she also spent time at Facebook AI Research in 2016 and Google Cloud AI in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

Clinicians often work under highly demanding conditions to deliver complex care to patients. As our aging population grows and care becomes increasingly complex, physicians and nurses are now also experiencing feelings of burnout at unprecedented levels. In this talk, I will discuss the potential of AI to function as a partner to clinicians, and augment their capabilities across the spectrum of healthcare delivery.
