What are the main areas of risk?<\/li><li>Thinking beyond the Constitution: are there unexpected areas of growth to be pursued and how will potential social outcomes (i.e. property rights, taxes, etc) change the economics of the country?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#f85f3c\"><strong>SEBASTIAN EDWARDS:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">Sebasti\u00e1n Edwards is the Henry Ford II Distinguished Professor of International Economics at the University of California, Los Angeles. From 1993 to 1996 he was Chief Economist for Latin America and the Caribbean at the World Bank. He has published 15 books and over 200 scholarly articles. He is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and an Honorary Professor at the Universidad de Chile.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">Professor Edwards has been an adviser to numerous governments, financial institutions, and multinational companies. He is a frequent commentator on economic matters in CNN and his op-ed pieces have been published in newspapers from around the world. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">In 2013 Professor Edwards was awarded the Carlos D\u00edaz-Alejandro Prize in recognition for his research on the Latin American economies. Other awards include the Raul Yver Prize, the CINDA Prize, and the Economista del A\u00f1o Prize.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\"><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Edwards was educated at the Universidad de Chile and Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile. He received an MA in economics in 1978, and a Ph.D. in economics in 1981, both from the University of Chicago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#f85f3c\"><strong>ANDREA TOKMAN:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">Andrea Tokman is currently the Chief Economist at Qui\u00f1enco S.A., the holding company of the Luksic Group. She\u2019s also a board member of Enex and Techpack, and Counselor to the <em>Consejo Superior Laboral<\/em> (the High Labor Council).&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">Her former experience includes various advising, consulting, and research positions for educational institutions, government working groups, and the government of Chile. Former positions include: Senior Adviser to the President of the Central Bank of Chile (2006-2008), consultancy positions at ASACH (Chilean Supermarket Association), Chief Economic Advisor to the Minister of SERNAM (2011-2012), Executive Director of Res Publica Chile, a working group dedicated to developing proposed public policy issues for Chile, (2011-2013), and Vice President of the Advisory Fiscal Council (2018-2019).&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">She holds a P.h.D in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and has over 40 publications.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#f85f3c\"><strong>JOSE TESSADA, moderator:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.luksicscholars.org\/portal\/scholar\/1084\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Jos\u00e9 Tessada<\/strong><\/a> <strong>(Luksic Scholar, Conducting Business in China (CMIX), 2018)<\/strong> is the Chair of the Escuela de Administraci\u00f3n (Business School) of the Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile since 2018 and Associate Professor since 2015. He is a Faculty Affiliate of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL). Before joining the Escuela de Administraci\u00f3n as Assistant Professor in 2010 he worked in The Brookings Institution, a think tank in Washington DC. He also was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Economics Department at University of Maryland-College Park. His work has been published in academic journals and collected volumes. His main areas of research are household finance and labor economics.
