Read more to find out:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>As a woman and supporter of women entrepreneurs, what changes would you make in Chile to empower more women in technology? What are we missing?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201c<strong>Education<\/strong> and a <strong>growth mindset <\/strong>is everything. I would change formal education and motivate young girls to choose paths such as mathematics, technology, science. We need to see this change in universities, but it must begin in elementary education. That\u2019s where we have to start.\u201d&nbsp;<\/li><li>\u201c<strong>We also need to teach the growth mindset. <\/strong>This tells us that we can improve our intellect and capacity if we put in the effort.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Can Chile be the \u201cLatin American Silicon Valley\u201d?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cAbsolutely. We can be whatever we want to be. However, we need to improve many things first, starting with our education system. We can certainly get there [becoming the Latam Silicon Valley], but we need to start making improvements <em>now<\/em> in every area: education, mindset, institutions, and more.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Failure<\/strong>: <strong>We find that failure is fundamental and is indeed a step forward, especially in the entrepreneurial world. Why do you think failure is frowned upon? How can we promote a culture of trial and error?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cThere are many reasons why, in my opinion, we don\u2019t have a culture that promotes failure. <strong>It\u2019s because we try to be perfect. <\/strong>We have an education system that teaches us that we need to get the best grades; that we need to be the best &#8211; <strong>that\u2019s the worst thing in innovation because you need to be creative and create things that may not work, and use your imagination.<\/strong> We shouldn\u2019t try to be perfect; we should try to be ourselves.\u201d<\/li><li>\u201c<strong>We think failure is expensive.<\/strong> That\u2019s probably why companies don\u2019t create a culture of failure. But it doesn\u2019t have to be like that. We can start with a small pilot or experiment and if it fails, we just move on.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Empathy and Innovation: Innovation requires challenging paradigms or joining forms and from there creating new ones. What role does empathy play in this?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>\u201cEverything we do &#8211; we should do it with empathy. <\/strong>That gives you a different perspective on many things, such as economic and social systems. If you put yourself in others\u2019 shoes, you\u2019ll be able to see how others see their reality.\u201d<\/li><li>\u201cEvery innovation I create is to positively impact the lives of others. That\u2019s how empathy and innovation are related.<strong> If I can be empathetic towards others, I can create an innovation that will improve their lives.<\/strong>\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>COVID + digital reinvention: The pandemic has prompted a digital reinvention. It has changed jobs, daily tasks, and national frontiers. What do you think of this?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cI love the concept of digital reinvention. Somehow, I find that digital transformation is already obsolete. We had all of these changes before COVID. COVID accelerated all of this. We have to change ourselves as human beings as well. <strong>Digital transformation is not about technology. It\u2019s about people. We have to change ourselves and how we see the world and interact with each other.<\/strong>\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-left wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#f85f3c\"><strong>What did Luksic Scholars ask in the Q&amp;A?<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why did you start in Chile? Why technology?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cWell, I\u2019m Chilean and I was born here [in Chile]. However, that didn\u2019t mean I had to stay here &#8211; that\u2019s why I traveled a lot. I feel more like a global citizen. I have a responsibility to change paradigms and to help in the development of the people because it\u2019s my home. <strong>And \u2018why technology?\u2019, because I can impact many people through technology. It gives me more hands; almost like a superpower<\/strong> to help positively impact others.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is your main advice to new entrepreneurs?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201c<strong>The best advice is to see the opportunity in every situation.<\/strong> To create with a greater purpose because if you fail and don\u2019t feel the passion, you\u2019ll give up. <em>But<\/em>, if you have the passion, and the desire to impact others positively, you can fail and fall down many times, but you\u2019ll get back up again. <strong>That\u2019s my other main advice: to find the thing you\u2019re passionate about and to use that to positively impact others.\u201d<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You spoke about encouraging STEM education for girls in their early years. In your experience, have you seen good examples of this in other countries?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>I\u2019m working right now on developing the ROCKETS 4 ALL Foundation. It\u2019s a difficult area to work in because part of it is cultural; that\u2019s why it\u2019s hard to change. When you want to change the culture, that takes many years. You need to change a mindset &#8211; the way in which people see things &#8211; so we haven\u2019t\u2019 seen results yet, but <strong>I have seen some sunlight in these young girls, and that gives me hope.<\/strong>\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">Thanks to those who were able to join and <strong>a special thank you to our moderator, fellow Luksic Scholar, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luksicscholars.org\/portal\/scholar\/1122\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alejandra Vallejos<\/a><\/strong>, representing the Harvard Kennedy School Luksic Fellowships for Chile &amp; Croatia program, 2011.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">There will be more Entrepreneurship talks to come so stay tuned.
