On June 8<sup>th<\/sup>, the <strong>three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luksicscholars.org\/en\/program\/mit-political-science-luksic-fellowship\/\">MIT Political Science Luksic Fellowship<\/a><\/strong> students currently in the program met virtually with <strong>Ben Ross Schneider<\/strong>, Ford International Professor of Political Science at MIT, to talk about our research.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"ls-force-justify\"><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Ignacio Puente (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.luksicscholars.org\/portal\/scholar\/899\" target=\"_blank\">Ignacio Puente<\/a><\/strong>, who has recently graduated (congrats, Ignacio!), talked about his dissertation titled: <em>Incubating Financial Development, <\/em>in which, he explains the emergence of private capital markets (VC\/PE\/infra) in emerging economies and evaluates the different roles public policies have in promoting them. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">Shortly after, <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Mat\u00edas Giannon (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.luksicscholars.org\/portal\/scholar\/433\" target=\"_blank\">Mat\u00edas Giannoni<\/a><\/strong> and I talked about our ongoing dissertation projects. I talked about my research on the mechanisms through which changes in regime type affect public policy. <span style=\"font-size: inherit;\">My goal is to better understand how, and under which conditions, policy change takes place following a regime chang<\/span>e by analyzing the process of policymaking under authoritarian and democratic regimes in Latin American countries that have experienced regimes changes.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">Lastly, Mat\u00edas talked about his recently defended-and-approved dissertation project. For his dissertation, he plans to analyze how changes in employment practices and workplace organizations impact workers&#8217; political behavior. He is specifically interested in assessing the degree to which those dynamics are responsible for the rise in anti-system behavior and far-right political preferences.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"ls-force-justify\">Learn more about our research by watching this short video below!
